Bread Matters Fungal Network

The Bread Matters Fungal Network is the place to share stories, old and new, that connect us to our culture, the land and each other through good bread.

May 2019

In 2016, Bread Matters Ltd gave the website www.fungalnetwork.com and its user database to Bread for Good Community Benefit Society which trades as Scotland The Bread. This is a charity founded in 2016 by Bread Matters founder Andrew Whitley and his late wife Veronica Burke. Scotland The Bread researches and grows better grains in Scotland and mills them into flour for the benefit of everyone. A growing network of artisan and community bakers uses the flour to make sourdough bread, passing on and enhancing the nutritional quality of the grain as only sourdough bread can.

It is hoped that before too long new Fungal Network pages on the Scotland The Bread site will enable sourdough users, new and longstanding, to share their enthusiasm and their microorganisms with other people and so bring health and joy to the living world.

In the meantime, you are invited to visit the Scotland The Bread website, where you can buy heritage wholemeal flour and find out more about our participatory research. If you like what you see, please become a member or support us with a subscription or donation. If you need further information about baking with sourdough, this may help.
